We have studied linear equations in one variable. We also know that such equations have a unique (i.e., one and only one) solution. We may also know how to represent the solution on a number line. In this lesson, the knowledge of linear equations in one variable shall be recalled and extended to that of two variables.
Students we learn to solve
- systems of linear equations by substitution.
- solve systems of linear equations by elimination.
- solve systems of linear equations by graphing.
- Students will be able to determine if a system of linear equations has no solution, one solution, or infinitely many solutions.
- Students are able to determine which method is best to solve a system of linear equations.
- Students are able to set up equations based off of real life situations to solve a system of linear equations.
- Students are able to solve equations base off of real life situations.
